Six Steps To Follow For Students To Return To Sports

Once symptom free at rest, the six steps should be followed. The patient should be able to tolerate exercise at each step with no return of symptoms. A minimum of 24 hours at each step is required before advancing. If symptoms return, the patient should rest until they resolve.

  1. No structured physical or cognitive activity
  2. Light aerobic exercise
  3. Moderate aerobic physical activity
  4. Non-contact training drills
  5. Full contact practice
  6. Return to play
