All day, every day, UofL Health - UofL Health - Jewish Hospital is ready to provide fast and skilled emergency care to our Louisville Metro communities. Our dedicated emergency physicians, nurses and support team specialize in a full range of conditions—from nationally recognized heart attack and stroke care, to treatment for severe hand injuries and all urgent concerns in between. With advanced diagnostic imaging, and direct access to specialists, we offer everything you need to get back to good health.
UofL Health - Jewish Hospital was the first provider in Kentucky to earn accreditation as a Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI with Resuscitation Accreditation. That means we provide a faster, higher level of care to patients with heart attack symptoms, . Our physicians deliver specialized care during the early stages of a cardiac event, when treatment is critical to preserving heart muscle. We’re also able to better monitor patients when it’s not certain they are having a heart attack, ensuring they’re not sent home too quickly or needlessly admitted to the hospital.
Working closely with Emergency Medical Services (EMS), we provide coordinated, rapid-response care to people with signs of the most severe heart attack, known as STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction). Our ER receives EKG results sent wirelessly by paramedics on the way to the hospital, providing the vital data our physicians need to make a diagnosis. If intervention is required, we can activate our cardiac catheterization team immediately. This system allows us to drastically reduce the time from the first symptoms to treatment—saving many more lives in the process. See our special distinction from the American Heart Association.
When stroke strikes, two million brain cells are lost every minute. The experts at UofL Health - Jewish Hospital are ready to act at a moment’s notice—saving those precious cells and greatly improving the chances of recovery. UofL Health - Jewish Hospital is a Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center that is providing the standard of stroke care to improve patient outcomes.
UofL Health - Jewish Hospital is home to world-renowned hand surgeons, available day and night to handle traumatic injuries. The ER features a dedicated room specifically for treating hands, where our doctors can perform surgery on the spot, if needed.
At the Level-of-Care Assessment a Master’s Level clinician will gather details regarding the nature of your problems. The purpose of the assessment is to evaluate your physical, psychological and emotional health. We will discuss the information provided in your assessment interview with an on-call UofL Health - Peace Hospital psychiatrist and provide you with a recommendation for the level of treatment that is appropriate, i.e., Inpatient, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient or Outpatient Counseling at a community agency.
We offer Level-of-Care Assessments via face-to-face in our Assessment and Referral Centers, telehealth and mobile.
